Succesful Launch Textbook Outcome

Last month, successful pilots have been executed for Textbook Outcome in cooperation with 7 hospitals. Textbook Outcome is a new type of analysis providing insights in the health care quality concerning a selected surgery. This analysis will become available on a broader scale in 2018.

Clinical indicators

In the Textbook Outcome analysis a selection of criteria is chosen for each treatment. Amongst other things, the selection is made using the following indicators:

  • Re-admissions
  • Follow-up surgery
  • Percentage excessive inpatient days
  • Emergency care admission after surgery
  • Request diagnostics suggesting a complication
  • Textbook Outcome is a new type of analysis giving insight in health care quality concerning a selected intervention.

What’s charming about the Textbook Outcome analysis approach, is that the analysis is based on current and existing registration: so immediately comprehensible, without extra registration. A smart comparison of the local score with the benchmark (corrected for casemix) makes the improvement potential per indicator easily comprehensible – including the differentiation per patient group and per specialist.

The LOGEX Textbook analysis is available for over 20 interventions: medical specialist facility, surgery (ao. cholecystectomy, inguinal hernia), orthopaedics (ao. knee and hip), urology (ao. prostatectomy and ureter stones), gynaecology (ao. prolaps) and cardiology (ao. PCI). Starting from 2018, this analysis will become available for >50 interventions, and will comprise the majority of intervention based treatments.
