LOGEX at Contractering MSZ 2027: from insight to joint steering
Recently, LOGEX attended the Contractering MSZ (Medical Specialist Care) 2027 conference, where healthcare professionals gathered to discuss topics such as appropriate care, improved cost insights, and transparency around waiting times. Across these discussions, one shared conclusion stood out: lasting change in healthcare requires joint steering, transparency, and a shared set of KPIs that goes beyond QxP alone.
One of the sessions was led by our colleague Tjon Chen and focused on a central question: how can healthcare organisations gain better control over the efficiency of care delivery while also improving the financial performance of their portfolio? The session highlighted the importance of portfolio‑level insights as a basis for more informed and balanced decision‑making.
Tjon showed how a portfolio matrix can be used to visualise healthcare products across two key dimensions: efficiency and cost coverage. This approach helps organisations identify differences within their care portfolio. This creates a clear basis for steering choices and supports more constructive contracting conversations between hospitals and the NHS.
Contracting is also about driving change:
This portfolio‑based approach naturally supports the transition towards appropriate care. Appropriate care is not about delivering more care, but about delivering the right care: care that adds value for patients and society, avoids unnecessary interventions, and uses resources responsibly. When clinical outcomes, utilisation patterns, and financial insights are considered together, organisations gain clearer guidance on where care contributes most and where adjustments are needed. This enables a shift from fragmented optimisation towards more coordinated, value‑driven healthcare decisions.
